The tour start and end point can be arranged to suit the group request. In the past the locations have been Stirling Railway Station or Oban Ferry Terminal to meet the 13.10 hrs Calmac Ferry sailing to Barra.
This morning we make the short journey south to the island of Vatersay to enjoy the magical beaches on a circular walk lasting just over 2 hours. In the afternoon we make the climb to the top of Heaval a 400 m summit just a short distance from Castlebay that overlooks all of Barra and Vatersay to the south.

Today we leave Castlebay behind and travel north to walk around the Eilogarry Peninsula on a circular walk that passes Barra Airport. It is advisable to visit the local Coop In Castlebay for provisions before setting out as the airport facilities are currently undergoing refurbishment.
In the afternoon we make the sail from Ardmhor Ferry Point to the Island of Eriskay where we experience history at close hand by following in the footsteps of Bonnie Prince Charlie who landed here 1745 and the much later event of the grounding of the SS Politician that sank with over 250,000 bottles of whisky on board and inspired the novel by Compton Mackenzie and the later Ealing comedy film, Whisky Galore. Walk these same glorious beaches before ending the day at your hotel destination on the adjoining island of South Uist.

The day of mainly beach walking on South Uist begins with drive to Cladh Hallan, before walking on to the beaches south to Polochar (location of famous Polocher Inn). We then leave Benbecula and cross the sea causeway to North Uist exploring the island’s wonderful beaches at Tràigh Vallaigh and Berneray to end with the mid-afternoon ferry crossing over the Sound of Harris to Leverburgh.
On arrival on Harris we journey east to Renish Point to visit the Church of St Clements at Rodel then take the quieter west road on the island to travel north to Tarbert for the first of our two overnight stays.

A morning visit by spectacular road leads to the Harris Eagle Observatory nestled in the mountains where a number of pairs of these magnificent birds are located. We continue on to Loch Scourst if time permits before returning by the same path and driving back to Tarbet via Luskentyre for a circuit of this world famous beach, voted by some as the most beautiful in the whole of the UK.
After lunch we will take the short drive to Scalpay and enjoy the wonderful circular walking path around the island that reaches the remote Eilean Glas Lighthouse at the furthest point.

The penultimate stage of our Hebridean Tour visits Lewis where we can take a morning drive north to visit the Callanish Standing Stones, one of the most impressive prehistoric sites in the UK dating back over 5,000 years Our walk combines the main site with two further stone circles nearby (restaurant and museum until 2026 for refurbishment).
In the afternoon we complete two further walks on the western side of the island, the Dun Carloway Broch and Moorland and the Aird Laimisiadair Circuit, Na Gearrannan circuits before heading east to Stornoway, the main town in the Outer Hebrides.
Overnight Stornoway
Combined Walk Distance 17km / 10.7 miles
Our final day offers the opportunity to visit the Butt of Lewis, the most northerly point on the Outer Hebridean Islands, where we can experience this remote location of magnificent beaches and dramatic scenery framed by an isolated lighthouse. Then trace our route back to Stornoway, and if time permits, visit the east side of the island and the beautiful beaches at Tolsta before spending some time around Stornoway on a walk to appreciate the history and architecture of the town including Lews Castle, the home of the medieval Lewis Chessmen.
