With so much going on in Edinburgh for the festival this summer, why not escape the hustle and bustle of the city for the Fringe by the Sea. With plenty of entertainment in the form of music, comedy and theatre, there really is something for everyone. And with EasyWays, you can also explore the stunning surrounding areas by completing one of the many walking trails in Scotland!
North Berwick
Fringe by the Sea is a festival held in the beautiful seaside town of North Berwick – just 45 minutes drive from Edinburgh. The town is a great escape from the busy city during the festival season, with plenty to do and see for the whole family.
Fringe by the Sea
The line up for this year holds a wide range of artists, with a bit of something for everyone from the 8-14th August. This year, the famous Scottish crime writer, Ian Rankin, will be making an appearance on the second day of the festival, allowing fans of his work to come along and see the writer himself, and maybe even ask Rankin questions about his novels.
As well as appearances from famous writers, there is also the opportunity to see The Classic Jazz Orchestra. The group re-interprets (rather than replicating) classic jazz styles from throughout the 20th century. They cover the evolution of Jazz from 1900 to 1970, providing an entertaining show for people of all ages.
If jazz isn’t your thing, then we are sure that you will enjoy The Hot Seats, a wonderful group travelling over from the states to play a wide range of country, ragtime and bluegrass music. They aim to perform in an entertaining, engaging and funny manor, appealing to people of all ages.
With many more amazing artists to see at the Fringe by the Sea, North Berwick is well worth a visit this summer throughout the festival period.
