Kinloch Rannoch – Pitlochry
One of the most iconic scenes of Outlander series 1 is set at Kinloch Rannoch. It is at this site where one of the main characters Claire, goes back in time to 1743. In Outlander, this location is called “Craigh Na Dun” and though there are other stone circles and similar structures all over the UK, this is a completely fictional location. It is no surprise that Kinloch Rannoch is used for important scenes throughout series 1-4! It offers spectacular views of Loch Rannoch and though there is no stone circle as shown in Outlander; you will still experience some of the most dramatic scenery and be amongst beautiful, green surroundings.

Hopetoun House – South Queensferry
Another filming location used across all series of Outlander is Hopetoun House. A 17th-century building located near South Queensferry, Hopetoun House is a stately home with thousands of acres. Both the house and its grounds have made numerous appearances in Outlander. To name some: in series 2 Hopetoun House is used for the Hawkins Estate. And, in series 3 the stately home is used to depict Helwater stables.
As Hopetoun House is located near South Queensferry, this is the perfect opportunity to walk the Fife Coastal Path. This begins in North Queensferry and is just a short trip over the Firth of Forth. And last on our list of recommendations is Pollok Country Park. This is another location which has been used to depict different settings throughout the first to fourth series. A location very easy to reach from Glasgow, Pollok Country Park is a must-see spot if you’re an Outlander fan!
Also located very near Pollok Park, is the starting point of the West Highland Way; Milngavie.
