Thinking of booking a walking holiday this year? Think what an achievement it would be to complete one of our walks! This January at EasyWays, we are making it a priority to encourage changing attitudes towards environmental conservation for tourism.
There are many extras when it comes to taking part in long-distance walking! You can be rewarded with a certificate, badge or may wish to purchase a t-shirt to remember your trip. More often than not, the money raised from these items go towards the maintenance of walking paths and trails. Giving back in this way has an extremely positive effect on the natural environment and helps to maintain the paths for walkers now and in the future.

West Highland Way

Take the West Highland Way Walk, for example, one of our most popular routes. There are a range of products you can purchase for a small fee as a memento of your trip. Look at their walking extras, for example, a West Highland Way passport, a medal and a completion certificate. The online shop has a large selection to choose from, like mugs, novelty trophies and gifts! A great way to remember your time walking through West of Scotland, while also contributing to the maintenance of the walking trail.

Arran Coastal Way

The Arran Coastal Way also has items for sale, the proceeds of which help route maintenance. Certificates are available at the reception of The Douglas Hotel, which is opposite the ferry terminal in Brodick. If it is your first time on the island, why not buy a t-shirt as a keepsake? These are also available in Brodick at the Arran Active shop. When on holiday everyone should make it their responsibility to consider environmental conservation for tourism! By purchasing these extras, you will be helping a very important cause.

Hadrian’s Wall Path

Moving south, the Hadrian’s Wall Path also provides walkers with completion certificates and badges. Every walker is entitled to buy an ‘achievers’ badge and certificate’ from the Segedunum Roman Fort & Museum in Wallsend. The Hadrian’s Wall Path organization rely heavily on the proceeds from these purchases. In the past year, without the help of walkers, the Hadrian’s Wall Path team would not have been able to achieve half of what they have done. Purchase your walking certificate to ensure the opportunity to walk in one of the most beautiful parts of the country is not taken away!

Fife Coastal Path

And finally, the Fife Coastal Path also offers you the chance to purchase a completion certificate! It is signed by the CEO of the Fife Coast Path and Countryside Trust and is available to be ordered from The Harbourmaster’s House, which is Fife’s first coastal centre.
