Scottish Adventure Holidays – Explore the Argyll Coast
Argyll Secret Coast
The Cowal Way goes through the Argyll Secret Coast and because the area is a “secret,” the route it much quieter than our others like the West Highland Way. Don’t be surprised if you don’t meet anyone on your journey! It is along Argyll’s Secret Coast where you’ll find many opportunities to go climbing, cycling and try a range of water sports activities; including windsurfing, kayaking and sailing.
If your considering booking your Scottish adventure holidays during the summer and spring months, why not learn how to sail? Make use of the Tighnabruiach Sailing School, located in one of the most idyllic and peaceful areas, it is the perfect place to take up a new hobby!
CowalFest 2018
Come October, it will be time for Cowal’s annual outdoor walking festival – Cowalfest, from 5th to the 12th. Whether you’re a lover of nature, health or heritage – this week-long walking festival has it all. As well as normal hiking trails there is the chance to go Chi walking, which helps with stress and anxiety. During the evening there will be entertainment, in the form of traditional Scottish music and dancing!
Dunoon Queen’s Hall Regeneration
Dunoon is the main town in the Cowal peninsula. With just over 4,000 inhabitants, you can reach Dunoon by train and boat from Glasgow. This is how many of our walkers access the starting point of The Cowal Way at Portavadie.
As well as being the main access point for tourists, in the local area, there are a range of talented artists, potters and musicians. The regeneration of Dunoon Queen’s Hall was just completed in May. And, after 3 years and a £12 million transformation, it now hosts regular events, fitness classes and community meetings! So, if you are looking to walk the Cowal Way, spend some time exploring Dunoon and it’s local area.
