Know How Fit You Need to Be
Before walking long distance, think about your current fitness level and what you need to improve. Every walking route has a different difficulty, the West Highland Way for example has strenuous terrain. At EasyWays, we believe that for any type of long distance walking training is vital.
Get Motivated
Motivation can take many forms. Here are some of our tips;
- Create a playlist – it will improve your mood immediately!
- Make a training plan with realistic goals
- Get together with the group you will be walking the West Highland Way with, regularly. You will motivate each other!
- Invest in a gadget that measures your steps/distance covered to see your results.
Start Training
In busy day to day life we know it can be difficult to find the time to fit in training. Make these small changes if you are struggling!
- Get up earlier for a 15/20 minute walk
- Get off the bus/train a stop earlier and walk the rest of the way
- Take a walk during your lunch break
- Encourage your family and friends to go for walks at the weekends
- Make an effort to discover new routes in your local area
