Beaches

Kintyre is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland. It doesn’t matter where you are on the Kintyre peninsula; you will never be lost for a beach to visit. From the beginning of The Kintyre Way in Tarbert all the way through to Machrihanish, there are a variety of different beaches for you and your walking group to enjoy! One of the most popular of them being Machrihanish Beach – known for its surfing and 3 miles of sand.

Friendly Locals

Another thing we consider a highlight of  The Kintyre Way is the friendly locals. The Kintyre Peninsula is popular with tourists not only because of its views; but because it is the place to go to catch ferries to Arran, Islay and Gigha. And so, the local people are used to welcoming and accommodating people from all over the world!

Wildlife

The Kintyre Peninsula is known as Scotland’s “mainland island,” and every part of it has wildlife to discover! Birdwatching is very popular on Kintyre, you may even spot a famous golden eagle from across the Kintyre hills or the Machrihanish Bird Observatory. Many of our walkers also enjoy Kintyre Sea Tours – where you might catch a glimpse of sea life as well as birds!
