In Scotland, you can enjoy learning about both the country’s rich history and its scenes of incredible natural beauty – as well as all the conveniences and luxuries of Glasgow and Edinburgh, which are packed with activities and places to visit. It’s all well worth visiting, whether you stay for a weekend or a month. The experienced team at EasyWays will ensure everything is taken care of for your break, all you have to do is relax and enjoy the experience!

The West Highland Way

If you love the great outdoors, then this route is for you. The West Highland Way Walk is ninety five miles long, and it covers many of the country’s best views and most exciting features. It is easy to customise your walk if the entire length seems too daunting, but if you make the full journey you’ll pass along the shores of Loch Lomond, a huge highland loch, then you’ll go over Rannoch Moor, which is inhabited by all kinds of wildlife. The walk finishes in Fort William, where you’ll traverse Glen Nevis, a great mountain range which is home to the United Kingdom’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, which can be walked or climbed. If you’ve never been to the summit, then it might be time to start planning your trip.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is one of the UK’s great historic cities, and it’s well worth a visit. You can visit Edinburgh Castle, which sits at the top of one of the city’s two extinct volcanoes, or why not check out the Scott Monument? This is a grandiose gothic monument, built in 1844 and dedicated to Sir Walter Scott, which has to be seen to be believed, and you can scale to the very top by taking the spiral staircase. The city is also a great place to eat. You can pick up a humongous breakfast at Hemma, with all the delicacies, like haggis, for you to try. If you aren’t too full, you can access more of the city’s history by heading up Arthur’s Seat – the other extinct volcano in the center – but at 250m it’s only a warm-up in comparison to The West Highland Way. However you hone your break, don’t spend your time stressing out about getting around. If you would like to drive during your holiday, you can make parking much easier by pre-booking with YourParkingSpace, whether it’s for a long or short stay. Alternatively, if using public transport EdinburghTrams.com is a great source of information about Edinburgh’s iconic tram system. When you book a walking holiday with Easyways our team will make sure everything is taken care of and you have all the information you need!
Arthur's Seat

Hadrian’s Wall

A great way to combine an amazing hiking holiday with some of Scotland’s history is to explore The Hadrian’s Wall Path, or you can visit the milecastles, barracks, ramparts and forts separately if the eighty-mile walk seems like too much. There’s no end to what you can get out of a trip into Scotland’s history, and you can explore it through the many galleries, museums and even excavation that can be attended along the border. You can make the most of the experience by visiting the Hadrian’s Cavalry exhibition, a gathering of Roman objects from all over Europe, donated by museums. However much of the path you end up walking, you’ll be sure to learn a lot as you experience the same views as the Roman patrols who went the same way when the path was built in 122 AD.
