Last year, we made a commitment to sustainable holidays and responsible tourism by implementing the EasyWays voluntary contribution scheme. Here is an update of our progress!
Sustainable Holidays with EasyWays’ Voluntary Contribution Scheme
Thank you for your generosity!
In 2018, we were pleased to receive £450 from our walkers to support numerous Scottish routes, notably the West Highland Way, Fife Coastal Path and Loch Lomond & Cowal Way.
What is the Voluntary Contribution Scheme?
At the point of booking, you now have the option to add a donation! Any amount is appreciated and will be passed on directly to the organisations who maintain the paths.
How do your contributions help?
Paths are very often maintained by volunteers, these donations provide that much needed extra support! They are put towards activities such as improved way marking and repairing eroded parts of the path. It is so important to look after and treasure our walking routes! Path maintenance enables ecosystems to survive and gives us the chance to keep enjoying beautiful Scottish surroundings.
Also, as we mentioned in our Christmas gift guide, a walking holiday is a great gift for the whole family to enjoy. By booking a walking holiday for 2019, you are joining those around the world who are holidaying with consideration for the environment.
Want to do more?
If you want to do more, there is a current Loch Lomond & Cowal Way crowdfunding effort or check out Fife Big Green Footprint scheme. Or why not explore the many volunteering opportunities in Scotland in 2019, such as a Conservation Volunteering day, COAST’s spring beach clean or other volunteering opportunities. We’d love to hear about your plans for volunteering in 2019!
