Start of the West Highland Way, Milngavie
“It’s what we do!”
These are the modest words that have become the motto of annual fundraiser, Walk for Jock that was started by team leader Davie Paterson of Linlithgow in memory of his late brother Jock and every September since 2008 the team take on the demanding challenge of the West Highland Way. Around 16 walkers form the group each year and in doing so raise a remarkable amount of funds for a number of local and national charities.
Easyways are proud to have made the arrangements over the years for accommodation and logistics on the 96 mile route including a T-shirt with the WFJ logo and EasyWays name given to each walker that this year included a fitting tribute to team member Ally’s late nephew PJ Cockburn who sadly passed, age 12, in 2017.
In their efforts Ally Campbell and friends, Billy Fraser and Brian Murdoch, managed to raise an extraordinary £3,505.00 for the PJ Foundation.

In total the team of ‘Jockers’ as they are fondly known, collectively raised £8,752.50 and were delighted to present cheques to the following worthwhile charities:

The cheques that were presented on Sunday 6th of October in Platform 3, Linlithgow, will make a valuable contribution to the incredible work these charities are doing to change and save lives.
The Jockers will testify to the fact that the West Highland Way is truly a spectacular walking experience alongside the picturesque shores of Loch Lomond, north over Rannoch Moor and through Glencoe to end in Fort William.
If you are thinking of walking the West Highland Way, the best time of year is certainly between April and October when weather conditions are less challenging.
One of the most anticipated sections of this journey is the highest point between Kingshouse and Kinlochleven known as The Devil’s Staircase, the path out of Glencoe that offers breathtaking views all around
