Central Scotland

Considering delving deeper into Central Scotland? Glasgow and Edinburgh, the two biggest cities in Scotland are in the central belt. Glasgow in the west and Edinburgh in the east. Both have an abundance of culture, many historical sites and the friendliest people. Not only that, but both have direct transport links to walking routes, to find out more about maybe lesser known parts of the country.

The starting point of the West Highland Way – Milngavie – is just a short train journey from Glasgow’s City Centre.
The Rob Roy Way, another one of our popular routes, begins in Drymen. This little village is accessible through bus and train, also from Glasgow.
The starting point of the Loch Lomond and Cowal Way, Portavadie, is accessed from Glasgow by train, via Dunoon by boat and bus.
From Edinburgh you can access one of our most popular walks, the Fife Coastal Path, by train. Arrive at its starting point of North Queensferry in just 20 minutes!
And finally, you can find your way to the beginning (and end) point of The Cateran Trail, Blairgowrie, by train and bus from Edinburgh via Dundee.

If you’re looking to experience a Scottish island but would like to stay closer to Glasgow and civilisation, the Arran Coastal Way is a great choice.
